The Governor of Taiz Governorate, Mr. Nabil Shamsan, accompanied by the World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director in Yemen, Mr. Al-Khader Daloum, conducted an inspection visit to the school meals kitchen at Al-Salam School in Taiz. The kitchen was built with funding from the Hayel Saeed Anam Group & Co.
This project is one of the most prominent initiatives implemented by the Humanitarian Development Program (HDP), with funding and supervision from the World Food Programme (WFP). Its aim is to enhance school nutrition and support the continuity of education for students under the current circumstances.
During the visit, the Governor and the Country Director toured the various sections of the kitchen, where they observed:
The daily workflow and the stages of meal preparation according to approved health and nutritional standards, as well as the technical equipment that ensures the quality of the meals provided to students.
The visitors met with the kitchen staff, commending their efforts in carrying out this vital humanitarian work.
In a gesture of appreciation for the UN program’s efforts, Dr. Munir Saif, Head of the Grants and Strategic Partnerships Team at the Human Development Program, presented the “Partnership Shield” to Dr. Al-Khader Daloum, expressing the depth of strategic cooperation between the program and local and international partners in serving the people of Yemen.
Dr. Badr Amin, Project Manager at the Human Development Program, accompanied the delegation during the visit and provided a detailed explanation of the distribution mechanisms and the number of schools and students benefiting from the project, emphasizing the positive impact these interventions are having on the educational field.
This project reflects the integration of roles between local authorities and international organizations to ensure a healthy learning environment and contribute to reducing school dropout rates by providing necessary food support.
