1 2 scaled - Taiz inaugurates School Meals Project to Feed 30,000 Students with International Funding and Local Implementation 1

In a pioneering step towards enhancing food security and school health, Al-Shaab and Al-Salam Schools in Taiz Governorate continue the distribution of nutritious school meals to 30,000 students across the districts of Salah, Al-Mudhaffar, and Al-Qahira, as part of the School Meals Project.

This vital initiative is funded by the World Food Programme (WFP) and implemented by the Humanitarian Development Program, while the Hayel Saeed Anam Group & Co. generously financed the construction and furnishing of the Healthy Kitchen, showcasing a unique model of collaboration between international organizations and the private sector.

The project aims to deliver calculated, nutritious meals that meet global dietary standards. It adheres to the highest levels of food safety and occupational hygiene, starting from washing and sterilization, through packaging and wrapping, and ending with the delivery of safe and nourishing meals to children.

Project officials emphasized that this initiative marks a qualitative leap in the field of school nutrition, contributing to improved student health, increased attendance rates, reduced dropout levels, and the creation of a safe and stimulating educational environment.

The School Meals Project stands as a model of successful cooperation between international and local entities, reflecting the Yemeni community’s commitment to supporting education and health despite the ongoing challenges facing the country.
